Full description
Public consultation on the look and feel of Christchurch's multi-unit developments: A Review of Living 3 and Living 4 zones in Christchurch opens on Monday, 23 July, 2007 and closes Monday, 17 September 2007. This is in response to public feedback over the last 10 years about the design quality of new multi-unit residential developments in the inner city and around community centres.
These multi-unit developments are largely located in areas designated as Living 3 and Living 4 Zones within the City Plan. Such zones are the city's medium-density districts which were established with the aims of: enabling more diversity in the range of housing available, managing Christchurch's growth and limiting urban sprawl.
A brochure has been produced by the City Council that summarises some of the issues raised by people, the available options for improving the quality of urban design in these zones, and feedback forms for sending your input back to Council. Hard copies of these can be picked up from any City Council library or Service Centre. They are also available on-line for people to print out, fill in and send back to Council by freepost through any NZ Post box. You can also feedback through the Have Your Say City Council site.
